A great place to start is simply asking them if they have any spiritual beliefs. Most people today are open to talking about spiritual things, as long as you don’t turn it into a debate or a lecture! Listen respectfully to their thoughts.
Then ask them if they know much about the Bible. Surprisingly, most people today don’t.
