StoryBoard 2 – Sin

God’s relentless pursuit of a loving relationship with people like us is evident from the moment sin came into the world. Immediately following Adam and Eve’s sin, God promised to send someone who would defeat Satan and his work in the world (Gen 3:15). Why? Because God longed to walk in a loving relationship with man, in spite of man’s weakness and sin.

Later, in Noah’s time, when God was ready to wipe out the earth because mankind had become so sinful and to start over with Noah and his family, God offered His forgiveness and life to any who would come back to Him and get on the boat with Noah. But no one came.

God’s incredible love is also evident at Babel when man’s sin and pride turned them away from God again. And though God could have chosen to wipe mankind out again, He didn’t. He chose instead to tenderly and cleverly scatter them throughout the world so that they might have another opportunity to walk in a loving relationship with Him and each other.

We humans have a serious problem. We think we know better than God. There’s something within our very nature that makes us want to do what we want to do instead of what someone else tells us to do, even if that someone else is God.

Yet from the stories of Adam & Eve, and Noah, and the Tower of Babel we learn a huge lesson about God. He loves us in spite of us. In spite of our sin. And He offers us grace and forgiveness if we will just turn back to Him and accept His love.

If there are any sinful corners of your life that you are hiding away from the world, remember that God knows all about it. And He loves you anyway. And He offers you His grace and forgiveness if you will just turn away from your sin and walk with Him.

 Romans 5:12,15
When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned… But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ. (NLT)
